Abstract
Violence in homes is a structural reality in our society and affects thousands of homes every day. The implementation of resilient strategies to address this problem is a challenge for the governments of different countries. There are various forms of violence, such as negligence, physical, sexual and psychological violence, child marriage and early unions, which violate the rights and integrity of children and adolescents.
It has been warned that no country is free from this problem, and manifestations of violence can occur at home, school, care institutions, justice, the community, and digital environments. Violence in the home mainly affects girls and boys and may be related to other risk factors that give rise to different forms of violence.
In Peru, more than 60% of women have been victims of violence by their husbands or cohabitants, which shows that more than 50% of Peruvian women do not feel safe within their own families. In addition, alarming figures such as tolerance or justification of violence against women, cases of femicide, disappearances of women and adolescent mothers are highlighted.
Family violence in the home is an important and complex issue that encompasses different forms of physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological abuse. Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of their sociodemographic profile. Abuse manifests itself as a pattern of abusive behavior on the part of the aggressor, who exercises power and control over the victim. This type of violence can have serious physical and emotional consequences, especially for children and young people, affecting their mental health and academic performance.
In short, domestic violence is a problem that requires urgent attention and action to ensure the safety and well-being of people in their own homes.
